At today's briefing, we will inform you about the work done by the Public Charity Foundation "Vaqf" under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan in 2018-2021 for financial support, reconstruction, current and capital repairs of mosques in the country and charitable activities!
It is known that when the Vaqf Foundation was established on April 16, 2018 by the decree of our respected President, the construction, repair, reconstruction, beautification, strengthening the material and technical base of mosques and financial and social support of the mosque staff, in particular, imam-khatibs, imam-naibs, mutawallis, muazzins, was identified as one of the main objectives of the Foundation.
Over the past three years, the Foundation has done a lot to fulfill these tasks.
In particular, for the construction, current and capital repairs of the mosques under the auspices of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan:
- 400 million soums for 10 mosques in 2018;
- 2 billion 300 million soums for 17 mosques in 2019;
- 1 billion 395 million soums for 26 mosques in 2020;
- 1 billion 157 million soums for 32 mosques in 2021;
A total of 5 billion 252 million soums were donated to 85 mosques. In order to increase the religious and enlightenment knowledge of the population and further enrich the libraries in mosques:
- 1290 books in 2018;
- 6286 books in 2019;
- 3222 books in 2020;
- 83,640 books in 2021;
In total, 94,438 books worth 2 billion 95 million 873 thousand 640 soums were endowed to the mosques over the past period.
Also, in May 2020, the Yusuf Mosque, which was destroyed by the floods in Sardoba district of Syrdarya region, was completely rebuilt by the Foundation in cooperation with sponsors.
It should be noted that the Foundation has set a continuous salary for imams of financially insolvent, low-income mosques operating in the country since 2018, and over the past period has paid more than 6 billion 976 million soums.
In addition, 65 billion 873 million soums were allocated as charitable assistance to imams, imam-naibs, mutawallis, muezzins, guards and other technical staff working in more than 2,090 mosques in the country during the pandemic.
In total, since its inception, the Foundation has directed a total of 74,944,873,000 soums as a charity for the construction, repair, maintenance of the mosques and financial support of their staff.
In conclusion, I would like to note that the Vaqf Foundation will continue to contribute to the development of mosques in our country and will encourage our generous compatriots to cooperate in this direction.
